According to the 2024 Paris Olympics schedule on August 3, the Vietnamese sports delegation will compete in two events: shooting and swimming.
The focus is on shooter Trinh Thu Vinh competing in the final of the women’s 25m pistol event at 2:30 p.m.
In the qualifying round, the 24-year-old female shooter had an excellent performance with a total of 587 points and 25 shots hitting the bull’s-eye after 2 fast and slow shooting tests to rank 4th.
This is the highest score Trinh Thu Vinh has achieved in an international tournament.
The women’s 25m sport pistol final consists of 10 rapid-fire 5-shot bursts starting at 0 points and scoring is based on hits and misses.
A shot within the hit area and with a score of 10.2 or more will be counted as 1 point (1 hit).
The shooter with the lowest score in the final will be eliminated from the 4th round until the 10th round to determine the medal.
If two or more shooters are tied at one position, they will shoot additional penalty shootouts until a final result is determined.
The second Vietnamese athlete to compete on the day was swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang in the men’s 1,500m freestyle qualifying round.
At this distance, Huy Hoang’s best result, which is also the national record, is 14 minutes 58.14 seconds set at the 2019 SEA Games.
Meanwhile, compared to Tokyo 2020, the lowest qualifying time was 14 minutes 52.66 seconds.
