Heavy rains due to the impact of storm No. 3 in the upstream area caused the Cau River to rise. According to Thai Nguyen Hydrometeorological Station, the water level at Gia Bay Hydrological Station at 4:00 a.m. on September 9 reached 2,791 cm, 91 cm higher than alert level 3.
The rising water level of Cau River has flooded the entire area around Tien Bo apartment building. Part of the foundation of building A3 has been exposed, posing a high risk of insecurity.
The apartment management board has cut off power to the entire building and, together with the authorities, has helped evacuate residents to safety.
On the night of September 8, authorities evacuated about 50 households with 200 people in building A3, Tien Bo apartment building (Hoang Van Thu ward, Thai Nguyen city) to a safe place.
From 11pm on September 7 to 11pm on September 8, many places in Thai Nguyen province had heavy rainfall of over 200mm such as: Cuc Duong, Than Sa (Vo Nhai district), Hoa Thuong, Minh Lap (Dong Hy district), Yen Do, Yen Lac (Phu Luong district). Particularly in Cho Chu town (Dinh Hoa district), rainfall of over 300mm was recorded.
Mr. Dam Lam (Thai Nguyen City) said that after waking up one night, the water level of Cau River through Trung Vuong Ward (Thai Nguyen City) had risen close to the bank, the water flowed quite fast.
According to Ms. Ngo Hai Yen (Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen), heavy rain occurred throughout the night of September 8 in the area, and up to now the rainfall has not decreased. Water levels in rivers and streams in the area continue to rise.
The stream flowing through the area of Phu Ly and Dong Dat communes (Phu Luong district) connecting to the Du river is flooded. Traffic in this area is currently cut off.
