Westminster police arrested a group of robbers in Fountain Valley after a tense chase that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, July 11, Fox 11 News reports.
At approximately 12:09 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s Department received a call reporting a burglary in progress in the 16000 block of Galaxy Drive, in the Little Saigon neighborhood of Westminster. Officers immediately contacted and requested assistance from the Westminster Police Department to intercept the group of thieves.
After completing the robbery, the four suspects got into the car and drove down Beach Boulevard toward the ocean. According to a police release obtained by Fox 11, the chase began there. Westminster police chased the thieves to the corner of Beach Boulevard and McFadden Avenue, but the thieves’ car did not stop and continued to speed away. The police persistently followed.
Upon reaching the corner of Bushard Street and Heil Avenue shortly after 1 p.m., the vehicle crashed into two other vehicles, preventing the robbers from continuing their escape. All four suspects in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle that was hit was also taken to the hospital.
During this arrest, the Anaheim Police Department also assisted the Westminster police force by sending a helicopter to participate.
Police have not yet released the identities of the four suspects arrested. The group is suspected of committing multiple home burglaries in the Little Saigon area. Police are reviewing evidence seized from the vehicle to determine the identities of previous burglary victims.
