In Thai Nguyen city, there was heavy rain for about 3 hours on the evening of August 22, causing many streets, Minh Cau street, Luong Ngoc Quyen – Phan Dinh Phung intersection, Hoang Gia intersection, the gate area of Thai Nguyen Central Hospital, the North-South intersection, Ben Tuong street… to be deeply flooded, paralyzing traffic.
On Z115 Road, a four-seater car was swept away by water for dozens of meters. On Hoang Gia Road, a taxi was also swept away.
Quang Trung Street and several other roads appeared flooded in many spots more than 40cm deep, many cars and motorbikes stalled in the middle of the road, waiting for rescue.
At the Luong Ngoc Quyen – Hoang Van Thu intersection, rainwater flooded up to the sidewalk, many cars were knocked over and drifted away.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from tonight to tomorrow morning, August 23, in the Northwest, Viet Bac and Quang Ninh regions, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 20 – 50mm, locally very heavy rain over 120mm.
In addition, tonight and August 23, other places in the North and Thanh Hoa will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15 – 30mm, locally over 60mm.
Thunderstorms can cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas and flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.
