In fact, the business is implementing a cooperation program with WWF-Vietnam and partners to conserve water resources in the three basins of the Red River, Tien River and Dong Nai River, lasting from 2022 – 2025. With total capital Investing 30 billion VND from Heineken Vietnam, the program aims to conserve 3 billion liters of water each year through consulting activities, designing strategic hydrological system management, planting and caring for melaleuca forests and trees. indigenous, nurture and promote natural forest regeneration, improve water quality, organize training and communication for local people.
Within the framework of the program, with the goal of raising public awareness about the role of protecting water sources and the surrounding environment, businesses and partners have organized training sessions for local communities in the area. Xuan Son National Park, Phu Tho Province and Dong Nai Nature – Cultural Reserve, Dong Nai Province, to guide people on how to collect and treat waste to prevent water pollution. By June 2024, the project has collected and processed more than 3 tons of garbage in these areas.
Also at the training sessions, people also learned about environmentally friendly agricultural solutions through the application of indigenous microorganisms (IMO) – such as producing organic fertilizer from microorganisms. instead of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, thereby protecting the environment and improving the quality of arable land. Local people also learn how to make banana circles to save water, increase crop productivity, minimize the impact of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the environment and contribute to the treatment of organic waste. muscles in daily life.
Through the water conservation cooperation program, the business also provides practical solutions to help people improve water use efficiency in daily farming. Among them, the highlight is the project to support farmer households in Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province to use water-saving irrigation systems from 2023. Through this project, 8 local households have received water resources. The first round of interest-free revolving capital was sponsored by Heineken Vietnam, under the management advice of WWF-Vietnam, to repair and invest in the sprinkler irrigation system, helping to save up to 70% of irrigation water.
Along with training and raising awareness, Heineken Vietnam also focuses on improving access to clean water for people in difficult localities. In 2023, the business and partners built two community water tanks with a total capacity of 36m³ and repaired and cleaned two old tanks in areas with urgent needs in Xuan Son National Park. . As a result, about 50 households were provided with about 2,000 m3 Clean water for daily use from this water supply system. At the same time, about 937 households in Dong Nai province were provided with more than 2,620,000 Aquatab tablets, a water treatment tablet that helps ensure safe drinking water, and 20 rainwater storage bags with a large capacity of 15m³/ The bags were given to households in remote areas, helping them store water during the rainy season for use in dry times.
In addition, local people in the project area can also participate in forest ecosystem conservation activities to protect natural water sources. Up to now, more than 420 hectares of forest in the Red River and Tien River basins have been newly planted, cared for and protected. At the same time, the program has installed trash cans and information boards in public areas to assist people in waste management and minimize the risk of water pollution.
