Miss Phuong Le: “I was not tactful in my use of language”
Evening of August 23, talking with Vietnamese PeopleMiss Phuong Le said: “I apologize for the recent incident. I was not tactful in my use of language. However, I affirm that I did not intend to change the lyrics of the National Anthem, I always love my country.”
At the same time, Mrs. World Peace 2017 also shared that the statement only came out when she was being attacked by some netizens, and was not intended to mock or insult the National Anthem.
Sharing with the media, Phuong Le emphasized that she is a person who lives by the law. Therefore, she is still waiting for a decision from the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City. “I do not try to justify my actions, especially the wrong things, even if they originate from a misleading situation. I am a person who respects the law and must face my punishment honestly. And I also believe in the fairness of the law, so I will wait until there is a final conclusion, after the authorities verify the incident according to the correct procedure,” she said.
Miss Phuong Le considers this a big lesson for herself. She also promised to be more careful in her statements to avoid controversy. The beauty from Tra Vinh said: “Letting the incident become so noisy, disturbing everyone as well as the authorities was my fault, I apologize. Besides, I would like to learn from experience, look back at myself and be careful in my behavior and statements.”
“I also especially apologize to the authorities for bothering everyone because of my incident. Besides, I also want to affirm that I have never once thought of damaging the national image like the matter of altering the lyrics of the national anthem. I am a Vietnamese citizen and always affirm that even if I die, I want to die in my homeland. I love my country. In this matter, if I did it intentionally as everyone said, I swear on my life and my three children, if it was intentional like that” – Phuong Le shared.
Previously, social media went viral with a clip recording a livestream of Miss Phuong Le parodying the lyrics of Vietnam’s National Anthem (Tien Quan Ca). Many comments expressed outrage, hoping that authorities would investigate.
Phuong Le was born in 1979, from Tra Vinh. She became famous after winning the 2016 Miss Vietnamese Businesswoman of the World. In 2017, Phuong Le won the Mrs. World Peace pageant.
