The ancient villa of Governor Vo Ha Thanh (also known as the Governor’s house), located along the Dong Nai River (Buu Long ward, Bien Hoa city) has 2 floors.
Although it was built exactly 100 years ago, the villa is still majestic and imposing, with a strong Western architectural style. The whole house is mainly yellow, with a tiled roof.
From the outside in, there are many large pillars, the four sides of the house have many wooden windows, wooden stairs, wide corridors… all are symmetrical to each other.
Previously, Ong Phu’s tower was surrounded by a fence, garden with many trees.
However, to build the Dong Nai riverside road project, the garden and fence were demolished, leaving only the old villa.
After many years of not being renovated, the villa of Governor Vo Ha Thanh is now showing signs of deterioration.
The walls around the windows are covered with moss and vines. Some windows are damaged, with peeling and cracked paint.
Currently, this villa is managed and used by Ms. Dang Thi Linh Phuong (51 years old).
According to the long-time residents of Buu Long ward, Governor Vo Ha Thanh owned a lot of land. He used to take care of and help the poor in this area.
The Vo Ha family still lives in Bien Hoa, and for a time the villa was managed by the State. Later, the son of Governor Vo Ha Thanh, Tu Buoi, asked for it back.
Mr. Tu Buoi lived in his father’s villa and worked as a car repairman in the Buu Long area. The land surrounding the old villa was also sold by Mr. Buoi and divided among his children and grandchildren. After Mr. Tu Buoi passed away, his grandchildren came in and out to look after this villa.
Locals said that during the filming of the film Beauty of Tay Do The villa is still solid. However, people coming and going now see the villa is degraded.
According to research of Tuoi Tre Onlinebefore public opinion about preserving the above villa, Dong Nai province also sent departments to survey to have a conclusion on whether to keep the villa or not.
