The women’s road cycling event at the 2024 Olympics will start at 7:00 p.m. on August 4.
Vietnam’s representative, racer Nguyen Thi That, is not considered capable of competing for a medal.
Because among the competitors are the world’s top racers such as Lotte Kopecky (Belgium), Vollering Demi, Wiebes Lorena, Vos Marianne (Netherlands), Elisa Longo Borghini (Italy) or the reigning champion Anna Kiesenhofer (Austria).
At the finish line, the surprise happened when first-time Olympic racer Faulkner Kristen (USA) won the gold medal with a time of 3 hours 59 minutes 23 seconds.
Ranked right behind are Vos Marianne (Netherlands, 2012 Olympic gold medalist), Lotte Kopecky (Belgium, world number 1).
As for the Vietnamese representative racer, Nguyen Thi That finished in 73rd place with a time of 4 hours 10 minutes 47 seconds.
This event had 14/93 riders who did not finish the race (DNF).
Nguyen Thi That Born in 1993, started cycling at the age of 14 after coach Ngo Quoc Tien discovered his talent and recruited him into the An Giang youth team.
Nguyen Thi That’s best achievement is the silver medal at the 2014 Asian Games, three times Asian champion (2018, 2022 and 2023).
From the perspective of a Southeast Asian racer, That’s career has long been fulfilling as she won gold medals in 5 consecutive SEA Games. She is also the first Vietnamese female racer to compete abroad (after the 2018 Asian Games) and has achieved many successes.
