Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his intention to transform Cambodia into a country with the capacity to export raw materials and produce semi-finished and finished products to supply domestic and export markets, thereby improving the lives of its people. .
He made this statement on Thursday (May 2) during the inauguration ceremony of Royal Group’s Toyota assembly plant in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone.
The Prime Minister emphasized that: “We are not just creating jobs; we are increasing the productivity and capabilities of our employees. It is moving into practice.
Our diversification extends into manufacturing, tourism and light industry, paving the way for possible expansion into heavy industry as resources permit. ”
“This strategy will ensure sustainability and improve the standard of living of our people. We no longer rely only on the export of raw materials. Instead, we will export semi-finished and finished products for export. We are not just an exporter of raw materials; we can also produce and supply to the domestic market.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the need to develop Cambodian human resources to achieve this goal. He encouraged Toyota to expand its vision and strengthen the automotive industry’s talent pool by establishing a training center and providing Cambodian youth with the opportunity to receive training and internships at its factories in the short and medium term.
The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, which provides skills training to young people. The Prime Minister continued that certain skills cannot be acquired through theoretical study alone, so it is important to provide practical learning experiences in factories equipped with the latest machinery.
Dr. Hun Manet further said that as Cambodia’s human resources become more specialized in the machinery industry, both in quantity and quality, it will become increasingly possible to attract other companies to invest in Cambodia. added.fresh news
