Dougherty, 18, who represented Cambodian-Americans in the pageant, is very active in promoting her cultural traditions and performing traditional Apsara dance.
“I founded my own cultural dance group, Apsara Angels Dance Company, when I was 16 years old,” she told the competition organizers.
“Since I was a child, I have been taught to cherish my Cambodian culture. My main goal is to always carry on traditional practices and never forget that my roots are a big part of me,” she added.
