At the beginning of the play, “manager” Thanh Hoi gave a speech expressing gratitude to the audience who accompanied Hoang Thai Thanh. Among the long list of plays that made this stage famous, the crew chose to re-enact Half a life of perfume Because today I still have strength and enough affinity, I will start rebuilding.
Drama adapted from the popular cai luong play by playwright Ha Trieu – Hoa Phuong, Half a life of perfume recounting the humiliating life of Ms. The from Lai Thieu to Saigon to make a living and then being caught up in the cruel vortex of fate. The two artists Hong Anh – Ai Nhu still shine even though the play has been discontinued for a while. If the audience loved the character The (or Huong) of Hong Anh years ago, they will surely love it more in the recent performance because Hong Anh still portrayed all the tragedies of the character, even more fiercely. The is no longer the oppressed The, but she stood up and risked her life with fate “to see how far the fate will take”. Ai Nhu, The’s mother, appeared moderately but drew many tears from the audience, because the motherly love of this character is like a cool drop of water that soothes the bitterness of life in the play.
Besides Hong Anh – Ai Nhu, Doan Minh Tai, Thanh Son, Ngoc Duyen… still performed brilliantly. Among them, new faces like Tu Vi (as Dieu, The’s younger sister) or Trinh Xuan Nhan (as Dinh, The’s lover) although just entering the stage, have had straight and steady “flights”. All of these faces created a very emotional performance.
The play’s topicality and humane messages never get old, so even though it was re-produced after 9 years, Half a life of perfume still won the audience’s affection. After the play, in a packed auditorium, most of whom were young, everyone stood up and applauded the crew for a long time. Artist Ai Nhu hopes that if the audience loves it, Hoang Thai Thanh will have many more memorable performances “remembered once in a while” like that. Half a life of perfume will reunite with audiences on August 10, August 17 and September 1.
