Faced with the situation of cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Temu, Shein, and 1688 operating aggressively in Vietnam without official registration, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Communist Party of Vietnam seems to be confused about how to solve the problem. and only weakly requested units to strengthen management to ensure compliance with the law. The Minister of Industry and Trade has issued a document directing specific measures to strictly control the online business activities of these foreign platforms.
Under the direction of the Minister, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will promote communication and guide consumers to be careful when shopping on cross-border e-commerce platforms, such as Temu, Shein and 1688. In particular, consumers are advised not to transact with exchanges that have not been confirmed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and registered at the E-commerce Management Portal.
In addition, the Department will advise the Ministry to report to the Prime Minister and request the Ministry of Finance to research a plan to monitor imported goods from platforms that do not comply with regulations. At the same time, contact the legal teams of these exchanges to ensure they comply with Vietnamese law. In case of necessity, the Ministry of Industry and Trade can coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to apply technical preventive measures.
The General Department of Market Management is assigned to coordinate with the General Department of Customs to monitor, detect, and handle warehouses and goods gathering points related to cross-border e-commerce platforms operating illegally. permission. At the same time, relevant units will review legal factors, propose plans to control imported goods through e-commerce channels and handle promotional forms that do not comply with legal regulations. .
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also focuses on implementing the national e-commerce development program, supporting digital transformation for traditional markets and small businesses to expand new sales channels. Training activities, seminars and forums will be organized to improve digital technology application skills for people, businesses and cooperatives.
In addition, the Ministry will develop standards and regulations for products to help domestic businesses improve product quality, packaging, labels, and brand building.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade requires strengthening inspection and inspection activities to detect and strictly handle violations in e-commerce. Problems related to handling mechanisms and legal regulations will be reviewed and evaluated to propose amendments and improvements.
