Tri An Hydropower Company announced today (September 22) that it will proceed with flood discharge over the spillway for the first time this year, starting at 10am on September 23.
Overflow flow depends on the water level measured at Bien Hoa hydrological station. In case the water level in the downstream of Dong Nai river is below alarm level 1, Tri An hydropower plant will discharge flood with a flow rate of 150-300m3/s, the turbine generator is 850m3/s, a total of 1,000-1,150m3/s of water will flow to the downstream area. If the water level in the downstream is above alarm level 1, hydroelectric will discharge flood under 150m3/s, turbine generator is 850m3/s, total about 1,000m3/s will flow to downstream area.

On the same day, Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station announced that the water level on the Dong Nai river system is high, posing a risk of flooding low-lying areas along rivers and streams, adversely affecting water transport and aquaculture activities.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the Dong Nai River water level will continue to rise, possibly reaching approximately level 3 alarm (113m). At Bien Hoa station (downstream of Dong Nai River), the peak tide level this morning reached 1.95m (near level 2 alarm).
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Huy – Director of Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station – said that low-lying areas along rivers in many localities in Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City are at risk of flooding and landslides. People and relevant agencies need to closely monitor weather developments to have solutions to respond to rising water levels and limit damage.
