Recently, Mr. Bui Hong Duc, owner of a shop specializing in natural fish in Viet Tri (Phu Tho), immediately decided to buy a 52kg black carp when he received a notification from an acquaintance.
“Immediately after receiving it, I posted it on social media and a customer in Hanoi immediately placed an order. I sold it for 600,000 VND per kilo, which means this fish sold for more than 30 million VND,” he shared.
With many years of experience in the business of large-sized natural fish, Mr. Duc has built a network of potential customers, including people with good economic conditions, who regularly buy natural fish to raise or enjoy. Therefore, every time he posts fish for sale online, he receives many calls from all over to order.
The black carp caught in Thac Ba Lake weighed more than 50kg.
In the case of this black carp, Mr. Duc received many calls from customers who wanted to buy it. Among them, there was a customer who offered 200 million VND to buy it to put in the tank. However, he had to refuse because the fish was about 2 parts crushed and injured, and could not be kept alive. “Customers can buy it to prepare food,” he explained.
Mr. Duc said that this black carp was caught by people in Thac Ba Lake. Because of its large size, catching it was difficult. People had to use many tools and coordinate with many people to be able to catch it. During the catching process, they had to use tools to pierce the fish’s body, causing serious damage to the fish.
According to Mr. Bui Hong Duc, this fish is about 1.6 meters long and about 40cm wide.
According to Mr. Duc, this is the reason why the fish cannot be raised anymore and can only be used to prepare food, reducing its value.
This “giant” black carp is about 1.6m long, weighs 52kg and is about 40cm wide. After being cleaned, the fish was sent to a customer in Hanoi.
Mr. Hong Duc also shared that large fish caught in the wild are very rare. In a year, he only has the opportunity to buy such large fish a few times to sell to customers. Meanwhile, customers’ demand for large natural fish is always high, so these fish are often sold immediately.
He sold this fish to a customer in Hanoi for more than 30 million VND.
Many wealthy customers love to buy black carp to put in their tanks to watch, because black carp are strong, easy to raise and do not eat other fish. “For this reason, the rich love to buy ‘giant’ black carp to put in their Koi fish tanks at home,” Mr. Duc added.
Therefore, large black carp are always sold at very high prices, up to more than 1.5 million VND per kilo.
