Vietnamese and American companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the fields of energy, artificial intelligence and building a data center, the Vietnamese government said on September 24.
The Vietnamese government’s announcement said that the memoranda of understanding were signed at a business forum in the United States.
The memorandum of understanding includes energy technology transfer between Vietnam’s state-owned oil and gas company PetroVietnam and Kellogg Brown & Root, liquefied natural gas cooperation between PTSC, a subsidiary of PetroVietnam, and Excelerate Energy, and development artificial intelligence along with data center construction between Sovico Group and Supermicro.
Vietjet Airlines said it has signed a $1.1 billion cooperation agreement with Honeywell Aerospace Technologies for the company to provide avionics and aeronautical engineering services for Vietjet’s fleet of aircraft.
The memoranda of understanding were signed in the presence of General Secretary and President To Lam, who is present in New York and is expected to meet US President Joe Biden on September 25 on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the United States. United Nations General Assembly.
Mr. Lam said that the two countries have a lot of space for cooperation and Vietnam hopes the US will become the largest source of foreign investment in Vietnam.
The General Secretary of Vietnam also said that he hopes the US government will soon recognize market economy status for Vietnam, according to the government’s announcement.
The US Department of Commerce last month said it continued to classify Vietnam as a non-market economy. If Vietnam applies for reconsideration, it will take many more months for US officials to make a decision.
