Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia will open a sports village in April to host international sports delegations and athletes in preparation for the 2023 SEA Games.
This information was heard by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Thi Banh, Chairman of Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) and Cambodian ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (CAMAPGOC), during a visit to the Molodok Sports Village. . February 28th at Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh.
According to CAMSOC Secretary-General Vas Chamroun, Thi Vinh praised the smooth progress of the sports village and encouraged it to be completed by late March.
Once ready, the Sports Village will be a well-designed building with 1,700 rooms (each with 1 to 5 beds) capable of accommodating 6,000 to 7,000 athletes.
The sports village occupies approximately 8 hectares of land behind the Molodok Techo National Stadium.
It will also function as a museum for learning and research purposes, passing on memories and materials related to the SEA Games to the next generation.
